What is Evolutionary Astrology and how is it different to other Astrology?
You see - astrology is an ancient language, far older than most of what we now call “history.” It was practiced long before the first words of the Bible were ever written.
Our ancestors observed and studied the night sky in ways incomprehensible for us today. They didn’t just look at the stars - they listened deeply. They watched the rhythms of the cosmos and wove
them into the fabric of their everyday life. Astrology wasn’t a belief - it was a way of being. The stars dictated when to harvest, when to marry, and when to mourn. They connected humans with the divine, crafting myths and deities that mirrored planetary forces - stories that still are very much alive today, in our collective psyche.
And yet, something has shifted.
We’ve inherited the language of astrology, but much of its soul has been forgotten. In a world obsessed with prediction, control, and external validation, astrology has often been reduced to personality labels and forecasts.
And so, astrology slowly became something to be shunned.
First, the Church made sure it was seen as dangerous - something wicked, made to be feared. Later, science made sure it was dismissed as nonsense - stripped bare of its meaning, reduced to myth and laughed at by those who saw themselves as intellectual.
What once held a sacred place in our cultures was cast aside.
Forgotten. Flattened. And yet, there was a time when astronomy and astrology were one. A time when watching the stars was both science and soul work. When charting the sky was a way to understand not just the world out there, but the world within.
But luckily, as we as humans evolve, so does Astrology.
And as we started to long for reconnection with the deeper parts of our psyche, astrologers have begun to interpret the natal chart in ways that go far beyond static personality types or cook book descriptions that try to fit all that we are into very defined boxes.
And here Evolutionary astrology was born.

Created by Jeffrey Wolf Green - a truly unique human being - in the 1970s and 80s. As an American Astrologer, his work was deeply influenced by Jung and Freud. He combined their teachings with spiritual traditions, karmic and reincarnation-based philosophies - and came up with his own system of interpreting the natal chart, in a much more layered and complex way.
Where traditional astrology tends to focus on predicting what will happen, evolutionary astrology focuses on the why.
Why am I here? What am I here to learn? What is my soul wanting to learn in this lifetime?
It sees the birth chart not as a fixed identity, but as a map of intention- a karmic blueprint of where you've been, what you've carried, and what your soul longs to grow into.
At the heart of this approach are Pluto and the Lunar Nodes - symbols of your deepest desires, past-life imprints, and the direction of your evolution.
Evolutionary Astrologers look not just at traits, but at patterns. Not just at events, but at meaning.
It doesn’t just hand you your fate. It hands you a mirror - and shows you what you ready to see at this given moment.
It is a way of practicing Astrology that gradually unfolds over time - layer after layer it gives us deeper insight into who we are and what we came here to do.
I have studied my own chart more than any other chart - yet every few months I still discover a layer I haven't seen before. A new thread. A deeper pattern. An answer to a question I wasn’t ready to have answered before.
Astrology is not something easily digested. It’s not meant to be reduced to a quick personality quiz or a magazine column. When we try to simplify it into bite-sized clichés, we strip it of its depth and power.
Because Astrology is alive. It’s far more than a static map of planets and symbols. It reflects archetypal stories that we see reflected everywhere around us - in relationships, in cycles of loss and rebirth, in longing, love, resistance and growth.
It is the hero's journey we all are moving through - each of us as our own unique character in a much larger cosmic narrative.
Astrology isn't here to define you.
It is here to remind you of who you have been, before the world told you who you should be.
It brings you back to your original frequency. It helps us recognize the patterns shaping our reality from a more spacious, elevated perspective - allowing us to see the why behind what’s unfolding, not just the what.
It doesn’t necessarily change what’s happening, but it changes how we relate to what’s happening. It brings meaning to the chaos, rhythm to the confusion, and guidance to the moments where we feel lost. With enough distance, we can stop identifying with every storm, and start learning from the weather.
Astrology reconnects us to the larger cycles at play - reminding us that even in moments of breakdown, there is a deeper intelligence moving through our lives.
As you can see - I am pretty in love with Astrology and it's benefits.
I have found so much soothing, healing and purpose through it. It came into my life in a very dark time and never stopped being my number one guide and love. I’ll be a student of astrology for life, and I’ll continue doing my best to offer what I learn in a way that truly serves others on their own path of healing and self-understanding.
Lastly I also wanna mention here two other evolutionary Astrologers that have strongly influenced my path - Mark Jones, who combined EA with trauma therapy and psychotherapy and Michael De Barker - who has been my teacher for the past five years. Michael has studied Jefferey Wolf Greens technics in depth as well as Irvin Yalom's teachings as well as Mark Jones therapeutic approach - and combined it with his own knowledge on regression therapy. He create his own school and way of using Evolutionary Astrology therapeutically. I spent three years learning the in's and out's of Evolutionary Astrology and then focusing the last two years of my studies, on the therapeutic aspects of Astrology - in a group of six people we learned how to truly listen, how to do our best to always stay in the present moment (we all love avoiding feeling unpleasant feelings, a true therapist has mastered the art of recognizing when we are trying to continue escaping our underlying pains) and learning the art of asking questions.
As I am someone who has struggled with emotional repression most of my life, I know how easy it is to escape and repress. I don't wanna claim that I have mastered the art of always staying with what I am feeling - but I have made enormous progress with it and am continuously working on it. Because of that I am really good at spotting the way others try to do everything to escape the emotional realm and retreat back into the logical.
I feel very grateful to have been one of the students of Michael De Barker. His approach deeply influenced the way I work with astrology today - especially in bringing therapeutic awareness into each session. And here I wanna mentioned something he has always said in class, something I have repeated already many times: "It is never about the chart, but about what the person is experiencing in the here and now."
If your interested in the world of Astrology, make sure you have a look at all the Astrologers I have mentioned here and their writings, as each of them have created wonderful, meaningful books and work, in the realm of Astrology and therapy.
Okay you're at the end of this massive love letter to Astrology - if you read until here: I cherish you, it seems that you are someone interested in going deep.
